Allotments Short Course - Getting the best from your plot

Whether you are new to Allotments and have just taken on a plot and want to know how to get started, or you are relatively experienced, this short course has something for everybody.

Come along and learn how to get your allotment plot under control then make the most of it.

The course is held at our Horticulture Base at Sherdley Park Campus.

What will I study?:
Topics covered:

  • Weed control
  • Composting
  • Growing vegetable crops
  • Crop rotation
  • Growing soft fruits

The course is delivered in a very relaxed manner with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and group discussion.

No previous qualifications required, just a willingness to learn! Outdoor clothing and footwear are required. The course is aimed to increase your own knowledge of the subject matter so there will be no formal assessment. A college participation certificate will be issued for those that attend.

The cost of the course includes all necessary materials and equipment.

Once I finish the course, what can I go on to do?
We have a wide range of short courses available from our Horticulture Department, including Designing & Planting Summer Hanging Baskets, Grow Your Own Fruit & Veg and many more.
