Beginners' Short Course in Exotic Animal Care


This short leisure course is designed for people wanting to keep a range of exotic animals; focusing on reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. The course covers the basics in exotic care so no prior knowledge is needed. The course is delivered by an experienced Animal Management tutor.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

This one day course takes place on:

  • Friday 28th April 2017

The course is held in our Animal Management Unit at our Technology Centre Campus, WA9 1TT.

What will I study?

The course will cover:

  • Accommodation set ups (equipment)
  • Accommodation Maintenance
  • Feeding techniques
  • Health Checking

The course is delivered in a very relaxed manner with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and group discussion. Candidates are encouraged to take part with the handling of a range of exotic species whenever possible.

How is it assessed?

The course is aimed to increase your own knowledge of the subject matter so there will be no formal assessment.

A college participation certificate will be issued for those that attend.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

No previous qualifications required, just a willingness to learn!

What are the course fees?

The cost of the course is £80.
