Grow Your Own Fruit & Vegetables Short Course


Have you always wanted to grow your own but don't know how to get started?

Come on this one day short leisure course and learn how to sow, grow and harvest your own fruit and veg. Whether you want to lead a healthier lifestyle or make your money go further, with both theory and practical aspects catered for you'll be producing your own fruit and veg in no time!

The course is held at our Horticulture Base at Sherdley Park. 

What will I study?: 
Topics covered:

  • Weed control
  • Composting
  • Growing vegetable crops
  • Crop rotation
  • Growing soft fruits

The course is delivered in a very relaxed manner with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and group discussion. No previous qualifications are required, just a willingness to learn! Outdoor clothing and footwear are required.

The course is aimed to increase your own knowledge of the subject matter so there will be no formal assessment. A college participation certificate will be issued for those that attend.

The cost of the course includes all necessary materials and equipment.

Once I finish the course, what can I go on to do?
We have a wide range of short courses available from our Horticulture Department, including Designing & Planting Summer Hanging Baskets, Growing Bedding Plants from Seed and many more.
