Introduction to Bricklaying Workshop


This short, leisure course is designed for anyone wishing to try their hand at bricklaying and have a desire to learn from the professionals. You may want to progress from this short course to a course which offers a recognised qualification.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

This course starts on Tuesday 4th June 2019. You will attend College every Tuesday from 6.00pm - 9.00pm for three weeks.

What will I study?

This short course is specifically designed to give participants an introduction into bricklaying where you will be taught by professionals who have a wealth of experience from working in the industry. You will learn how to select and use the correct tools and equipment for the job, and to identify the right materials to use.

The course will also include:
•General health and safety and setting up your work area
•Setting out the job
•Correct use of hand tools
•Spreading and laying bricks
•Building a simple corner in half-brick walling
•How to finish the joints

You will study alongside like-minded people in classes delivered by friendly supportive tutors.

Stout footwear is required (no open toe sandals or high heels permitted). Overalls or old clothes are also recommended.

How is it assessed?

There is no formal assessment. The course is aimed to increase your own knowledge of the subject matter.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

There are no formal entry requirements. All you will need is commitment and enthusiasm. As with all our introduction courses the main emphasis is to come and enjoy.

What are the course fees?

This three-week workshop will cost £30.
